Just give them a bottle.

Updated: Aug 20, 2023

This line bugs me. Bottle feeding through choice is very different to bottle feeding because you have no choice. Because maybe breastfeeding is so excruciatingly painful that you dread each feed, or your baby isn’t gaining weight. Being made to do something you really don’t want to do is disempowering and can lead to feelings of negativity.

‘just giving bottle” isn’t always a quick fix, it may be a great way of addressing the symptoms but it’s not going to get to the root of the real problem

Babies are born with a neurodevelopmental capacity to transfer milk, so when this isn’t going to plan, it is a sign something isn't as it should be. And ‘just giving bottle” isn’t always a quick fix, it may be a great way of addressing the symptoms, but it’s not going to get to the root of the real problem. And this in itself is a problem.

Our mission is to help families to achieve their feeding goals, whatever they might be. Your goal might be not to have to dance around jiggling a bottle in a baby’s mouth just to make it feed or to breastfeed during the day and bottle feed at night. It might be just to enable them to take a bottle, as up to now, they will only feed on you. Feeding goals change, and that’s okay.

We are with you every step of the way, supporting you and guiding you to help you achieve your goals – whatever they might be.
